Angie Bonazzo
Cariboo—Prince George
Angie Bonazzo
Angie Bonazzo began her career with the Northern Health Authority in 2005 at the Ft Nelson General Hospital as a Nursing Assistant. She was offered the job by the in-charge RN at the time, who noticed that Angie worked well with First Nation clients. She moved to Dawson Creek in 2007 where she worked tirelessly in long term care. It was at Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek where Angie was inspired by dedicated labour activists to become active with the Hospital Employees Union.
As a labour activist, Angie has worked in many leadership roles: shop steward, JOHSC Committee Chair during the COVID-19 crisis, Local Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary Treasurer. She has also served on the 2021 Bargaining Committee, when the committee bargained the most impressive contract with health & safety gains in addition to generous wage increases with cost-of-living adjustments.
Angie has always seen the big picture of workers in our public health care system; she has worked hard to build the power of workers while delivering exemplary care within hospitals and nursing homes. She currently works as a mental health support worker at the Adult Withdrawal Management Unit in Prince George.
Angie has a deep connection to service. She volunteers in the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit at the University Hospital of Northern BC as a newborn Cuddler. She also leads yoga classes at the Prince George YMCA within the highly regarded volunteer pool. Angie believes in protecting and strengthening our public health care system—not cutting it— so we can access the outstanding health care that will help Canadians lead healthy lives. She will work to ensure the delivery of that care happens in Cariboo—Prince George.
